Taking Advantage of Family Reunion Planning Month

It's still November the remainder of the month. And that means it's still Annual Family Reunion Planning Month.  Take advantage of early reunion planning tips at its best.  Here are a few tips shared by experienced reunion planners to help you make your event planning experience a sure success.

Take Advantage of Seasonal Travel Discounts

During the Months of November through January many family events are observed. Federal holidays and long holiday weekends make for the perfect season for family gatherings. Take advantage of readily available seasonal family travel discounts. Avoid Last-minute flight deals by booking early. Take advantage of off-season hotel deals across the US. Plan on dining out? During the fall and winter season there are fantastic deals on group dining, shows and clubs. Families with teenage children save big at theme, amusement and adventure park entertainment.

Take Advantage of The Season for Support and Bonding

The Fall and Winter season focuses on visiting and supporting the elders of the family. During this time we tend to focus on how we can show our parents and grandparents we love and cherish them. We enjoy eating their comfort food, getting cozy,  and listening to their stories as they open up a colorful world of family history to us. Take advantage of this time to build closer bonds, document your family history and get the family involved in planning for the next big event - the family reunion.

Take Advantage of Early Event Planning Money Savers

There are endless money saving advantages when starting your family reunion planning in November. Make plans to take advantage of Black Friday and other seasonal sales. Plan on doing a load of cooking? November is the ideal season to reserve your home appliance purchases including indoor and outdoor ovens, indoor gaming and outdoor game equipment as well as cookware and coolers.

Having your reunion at the ol' homestead? Need to make some home improvements first? November is the ideal month to get started. Take advantage of seasonal discounts on electric and manual tools, ladders and toolboxes.  Now is the time to create a list of all items needed for your home and upcoming special events including your family reunion.

Inspiring Reunion Planning Activities and Resources

It's Annual Family Reunion Planning Month. Time to start planning your 2023 reunion event.
And with that comes the need for some good old fashion planning inspiration.

No worries. When you plan a family reunion, the resources available online are literally endless. And that means, when it comes to finding great family reunion themes, venues and activity ideas, the sky's the limit.

But weeding through all the tools, resources, and websites can be a bit exasperating. This article should help you steer your ship to positivity.

A good place to start is focusing on what your family needs and wants most. Here are a few things to consider.

1. Address recent loss; Include in your program words of encouragement and an "in memory of" segment.

2. Inspire the next generation to take leadership; Include a passing on the heirloom program. Also an award ceremony as well as acknowledgments to those in the family who are busy at empowering the family to reach spiritual, educational, and economic goals.

3. Celebrating the past; Include family history activities such as storytelling and documentaries.

4. Recognizing Genealogy; Include a genealogy reveal activity that could include presenting family trees, DNA reports and related cultural festivities.

Once you determine the need, simply focus on specific activities that are need appropriate.  We put together a great resource to help you plan, organize and manage your reunion event.

Make The Most of What You Have Now

"Life is too short."

"You never seem to appreciate what you have until it's gone."

"Don't forget to say, 'I Love You'."

"Make the most of what you have now."

These saying remind us to do the things that matters most. The Great Resignation, and The Big Quit is a multi-million family movement toward better priorities that bond and unite this sacred union. The years 2020 and 2021 were marked by families who took a stand to do the things that matter most.

Yes, there has never been a more pressing time to make the most of family life. It's time to open the curtains and bring in the sunshine and fresh air in. Shower and be showered with love and natural affection. Build a stable family economy. Help heal old wounds.

Family heads have rediscovered the value of leading a simpler life where family is at the center, well being is essential and nurturing relationships is vital.  "A focus on gaining and offering wisdom and spirituality to ones progeny is the real key to survival", says a long-time family man, Mark Askew.  He continues, "taking the time to make good memories with loved ones, not only matters, but is the prime thing."

The big question is how?

1. Make the most of life's small milestones and celebrate them together.

2. Live a simpler life.

3. Reserve the best of your time for family.

4. Self-medicate by nurturing each other with love, affection and hope,

5. Schedule a weekly date night with your husband/wife.

6. Schedule specific days and hours as play dates with the kids and even grown children.

7. Regular family meals are essential to wholesome upbuilding conversation.

8. Take time to talk about the extended family and ways to support them.

9. Plan special events as a family and include something everyone will enjoy.

10. Plan an annual family reunion and share the love.

So when and how do you start planning these moments of nurturing? "There is no better time than the present." states Mark and his wife of 41 years, who have been making family a priority each day of their married lives. "Every Friday is date night for me and Brenda. I speak to my father and mother everyday and thank them for being who they are. I take time out weekly to engage in upbuilding, healing conversation with my adult son and daughter-in-law, sometimes for hours. I tells Brenda and show her I adore her throughout the day. We share very simple but meaningful moments constantly." Now that's living!

Mark, the author of "Fimark's Family Reunion Planner" adds, "I'm so glad to see that millions are coming around and seeing what living is all about. Focusing on those who set a good example with making the most of what they have now is key. By doing this I've learned to adopt a rock-solid set of family values including hope-building spirituality. These things will not only get you through the difficult times, but give you lasting, abiding, healing joy."

A Season To Stand United

There is a saying, "There is no better time than the present." And another saying, "Don't put off tomorrow what you can do today?" But I think the one resonates most with me is the age old adage... "There is an appointed time for everything, a time for every activity under the heavens."

Those wise words always makes me stop, ponder and ask,  "What activity is most needed by my family right now?"

Let All Things Take Place In It's Season

I've learned decades ago that all things are best accomplished in their appointed time and season. With life's many challenges you can easily miss the ideal opportunity to celebrate life's transitions with the family. And when that time is missed you can't get it back as much as you wish you could.

A Season To Stand United

With all that's going on in the world today, this is a season to stand united as a family and community. Opportunities to make up for lost time pass by too quickly. All we can do is plan ahead and do our best make something positive, meaningful and empowering happen, especially when it's most needed. So what time is it?

This favorite inspired maxim continues...

"There is a time to plant, a time to heal, a time to build up.

There is a time to weep and a time to laugh. a time to gather and a time to dance.

A time to search and a time embrace. A time to sew together.

A time to be silent, and a time to speak.

A time for peace and a time to love."

- Excerpts from The book of Ecclesiastes chapter 3.

This Is That Time!

Our families need to be closer now than ever before. There can be no better time to bring the family together. To laugh and cry together, and most of all give assurance of your love and support. And when the time is right, plan a family reunion and widen your circle of love.

Tips For Your Next Family Reunion

"There is a time to plant." Plant a family garden or tree. Plant seeds of truth in the heart of your loved ones.

"There is a time to heal." Express your love for those who are gone but not forgotten.

"  "There is a time to build up." Build a family tree. Take the time to plan family activities that leave everyone refreshed, hopeful, loved, and in good spirits.

"There is a time to gathera time to laugh and a time to dance." Songs, dance and laughter build family bonds and a strong house.

"A time to search and a time embrace." Find and extend your family roots and branches.

"A time to sew together." Make a family history quilt.

"A time to be silent, and a time to speak." Make a family documentary video filled interviews, photos, music, poetry and take a look back on previous family gathers and milestones.

A time for peace and a time to love." Give the kind of honor that builds bridges,  heals old wounds, and renews friendships.

It's a bit nippy out there these days. The entire world could use one big fat family reunion right now.  May you and yours fair well, stay safe and keep the home fires burning.
